Kick Academies

Kick Academies

At KICK it is our mission to transform young people’s lives with God’s love through Sport and support. We are concerned that young people in their droves have stopped coming to church. According to the Evangelical Alliance, you are more likely to survive being on the Titanic than you are as a child in Church to still be attending into adulthood. Research suggests that 85% of young people in the UK never step foot inside a church these days. This is a problem that we want to counter, and we believe that working together we can stem the tide. Our solution to this issue is to go into schools and deliver PE National Curriculum, Solution Focused Mentoring, Transformational Street Dance and Sports Chaplaincy provision. We look to build relationships and work with local churches in the area to equip them to run additional sporting provision at the weekend.

We have a strong KICK Academy model which provides churches with all the tools and resources to deliver high quality football and dance coaching linked to a theme, which enables them to share a sports’ ministry slot from the bible before the children end with matches/performances. For example, the theme that day may have been ‘focus’ – so they focus on their passing, heading and shooting. Then in the sports’ ministry slot the young people are taught about an inspirational story about the theme from the bible – where Peter focused his eyes on Jesus and got out of the boat to meet Him in faith. This is a seamless switch and one which engages the young people through the tool of sport and dance. The ethos of KICK means that each and every KICK Academy is available to all young people, irrespective of ability or background. It is about the taking part and fulfilling personal potential.

Thinking of setting up your own Kick Academy?

Partnering with KICK to establish a new KICK Academy in your local area is an exciting step and one that a number of churches and church partnerships have already done successfully.

KICK would love to explore how a Kick Academy would work best in your local area. We provide resources, training programmes and expertise to help you get started and support you along the way. For more information please contact us.

We run regular training for Kick Academies throughout the year in March, June and November.

Annual Tournament

The annual KICK football tournament has been running for over 10 years.

A few hundred people gather to play, support, and frequently brave the inclement British summertime weather! Despite this, it is a great day of competition and fun, played in the spirit of KICK. We also present the KICK Annual Awards at the tournament. These awards recognise the hard work and achievements of the young people and volunteers in our academies. Teams can be entered in 3 age groups:

School years 4-6

School years 7-9

School years 10-13

This year’s tournament will take place at Oasis Academy Shirley Park in Croydon on Saturday 8th July 2023. Registration is from 11:30am. If you would like more information or to sign up your team please contact office@kick.org.uk
